WebCollege towns are the only progressive small towns. Floyd used to be a weird outlier. It was strongly anti-authoritarian, so you could find a mix of [real] libertarians + hippy level progressives. It was a cool place. The town is still decently "weird", but the county at large is mostly Trump country today.
